school gyms

i know one shouldn’t blame outer circumstances for some things, especially training, but i can’t help but think some of my disinterest in sports during school was because of the gymnastics halls. always dull, dark, standardised and plain awful. now that i am a little older i actually enjoy sports, as soon as the necessitation of the weekly school gym hour disappeared, so did my scorn for working out. i’m not saying it has to be as luxurious and wonderful as the la tourelle sarcelles school gym in france, but perhaps a little more bright and modern?

what if, for example, architecture and design students got to redesign some of the school gyms? not entirely rebuild them as it would probably be too costly but just some renovation + a little innovation.
that would make me more engaged. if i was 15 again i mean. (luckily i am not.)

the first photo is by rivane neuenschwander.

back

mondays are kind of lousy. so i guess one simply has to look to the details or something. i never do this of course, i just hurry through the day and cram in as much as possible. but if i would pay a bit extra attention, i would use shamelessly soft bed linens and wear dresses with back details that only i knew of. i imagine it would feel better.

Where are you originally from and what do you do for a living?
I live in Copenhagen, Denmark with my husband and daughter. Here I am studying for my Masters in Digital Design & Communication. I also work as a web designer – together with two friends I make web sites and graphic design under the name Youngest.
How does a regular working day look like for you?
I get up every day around 7 when my daughter wakes up. When she is off to day care I either work from home on different web projects or go to school at the IT University of Copenhagen. After my daughter comes home we all spend a couple of hours playing and cooking and eating dinner and at night I often work until I remember that I have to get up early in the morning.
What’s on your to-do list?

Blogging, all my different projects, home work -and preparing food for my birthday this weekend.[/column]

[column width=”43%” padding=”0″]

What is influencing and inspiring you right now?
Blogs are a constant source of inspiration. When ever I feel I’m loosing my inspiration I look through links on blogs I like and always find something new that gets me going. Also my everyday life inspires me. Being able to work on stuff I like is really exciting.
What’s your top tip to anyone who want’s to pursue a career in your field?
The beauty of web design is, that if you have a computer and an internet connection, nothing can stop you. You can just dive into it and explore code, design and all the endless possibilities out there. Once you learn one technique, a code language for example, new things appear and you can only try to keep up.
What would you like to do in the future?
I would feel very lucky if I get to keep working with digital design -my dream is to have a job where I can work with my best friends and still have time for my family.

gunnar asplund

museums and their cafes, such a wonderful combination. and librarys. there is nothing lika a magical-feeling, crusty old library. the city library in stockholm by architect gunnar asplund is actually pretty nice. i used to spend lot’s of time there when i was 15 or 16, pretending to be studying at one of the dimly lit tables but secretly just liking the feeling of all the notes being scribbled and books being searched for. i was a little pretentious i suppose. but i think that is allowed at librarys and at 15, don’t you?

iko iko space

the first photo could just be a lovely still life but is in fact a product photo for that little hashioki (meaning chopstick) bud vase. i love stuff like this, small things with such a sweet purpose, so poetic in some way. i would be thrilled to get my chopsticks rested on a little vase. also it’s obviously a brilliant product photo, go iko iko space-shop!

the middle photo is perhaps the perfect location for filmmaking? so inspiring, i want so badly to go there on this dull monday! and then the last photo is some kind of introvert way of coming to terms with my own fascination for lemons and eggs, preferrably together. i don’t understand it at all, the closest explanation for my obsession is that bright yellow and creamy white go together so unbelievably well.

anyways, if you have any weird visual obsessions, please share, i feel kind of weird now, haha:)
